Alright, it’s starting to hit home here. School is just around the corner for us. It’s looming over my head because I know, once it starts, it’s full steam ahead! In order to be ready, I’m getting organized in a few areas. So, here are some great tips on Back to School Organization.
Note: Be real here, these are TIPS. I do not do each of these! Some I do, but others I aspire to do. So don’t go down that road of comparing (Yes, I know you Moms out there). Take this as it is: grab one or two ideas and make it work for your family so you aren’t as stressed when school starts!
Back To School Organization
At our school we have a dress code, it is relaxed but the main thing is no huge logos or anything like that. I have lots of polo’s and khakis left over from last year. You know what that means: it’s time to pull them out, see what is stained and see what fits… then purge. It’s tricky here now because it is so hot so for the first month and a half. I’m going to make it easy on myself and go strictly with shorts. The pants I’m putting in boxes clearly labeled, sized, and purged. Donate the rest or hand it down to some more kiddos at our school.
One thing that has worked so well in my home is the Day of the Week Cubby. My boys thrive on organization (Obviously they did not inherit that trait from me :P) and it made our mornings go smoothly for getting dressed. Check it out:
I may or may not have straightened these up before I took this photo for you.
Here are some other tips that I have not tried, but hopefully one might work for your fam 🙂 I really like this one with all of them hanging up, gets rid of wrinkles. Ironing is so over-rated.
We take our lunch each day. Can I tell you that I dread this each and every day of the school year? Really. Making lunches is a thorn in my side (Thank you Paul for coining that phrase in 2 Corinthians). But, I am hoping that I will get better at it and make it a little bit easier this year. I’ve been doing a lot of clean eating and offering it to my kids. This year, I’m really hoping to keep going with that. Here are some tips and tricks that I am looking at.
Magnetic Lunch Planner, thank you Martha Stewart 🙂
Plus, here is a snack station from Apartment Therapy.
A drawer in the kitchen designated for Lunch Supplies from Becoming Martha.
I don’t know about you, but we are CONSTANTLY looking for pencils during the school year. How is it that sharpened pencils get up and walk away? However, I’m definitely doing this, or some form of it, for the school year:
This homework caddy is so smart. I’m adding a pencil sharpener to mine for sure.
If you have the space for this adorable wood homework station go for it! LOVE IT!!
Family Command Center:
I did ours last year and I still use it and love it. Sometimes the shoes do takeover and I have a purging of the shoes. That’s healthy right?
Here are a couple of my favorite command centers too:
I desperately need the Week To Do List. I do tend to not always keep up the best with this, I may have taken the kids to the dentist a day early…and get my hair done a day early… Well, at least I wasn’t late right?
I love this! So cute!
I hope these ideas give you some encouragement. Not to make you feel bad about what you aren’t doing, but some ideas that are going to make your life easier this year. Believe me, I need it!
Make sure and check the blog out on Monday. I am going to be doing a Vlog on Summer Break. You won’t want to miss it! Make sure and sign up with your email so you won’t miss it. I will be doing a Facebook live at 10 AM. You won’t want to miss it!
