DIY Christmas Ornaments. Who would have thought? Trying to save money this Christmas and wanting to change my Christmas tree theme did not go hand in hand this year. So DIY Christmas ornaments it is folks! The ornaments that I want are definitely not $20 for a set. So, in an effort to be frugal I took these ornaments that were headed to Goodwill, some spray paint, some glitter and had a party. A spray painting, glitter throwing, ornament party. And let me tell you…IT WAS AWESOME!!! This is what I ended up with:
And this is what I started with people:
Aren’t they gorgeous? Oh yes, and they are around 10 years old. Yes, ornaments that I’ve had for ten years that I bought at Dollar Store and Garden Ridge!! They have served me well and been on our trees for many years. But my ten year old Dollar Store ornaments are not in my color theme this year nor are they meant to be keepsakes.
So, in an effort to be frugal I bought a few cans of spray paint, some fine glitter from Wal-Mart, and hung my ornaments out on the line.
Let the fun begin.
It was rather interesting with the wind blowing and all with spray paint. I missed a few spots spraying because of that, but, just rotate that bad boy and you are good to go.
As they were still wet I started throwing glitter at them.
It was awesome.
Literally, my own glitter throwing party.
Like people at a wedding sending off the bride and groom I was sending out the old and bringing in the new…with spray paint and glitter…on ornaments. (Was that deep or what?)
And talking about making a mess, with the wind blowing as much as it was, I was covered in glitter…and once again…IT WAS AWESOME! (Don’t forget this is MESS to blessed 🙂
