Okay. So I’ve got something to tell you. I’ve been blogging for over a year now. And recently I’ve really been working hard to start earning some extra income for our family. There’s nothing wrong with that. But, it has consumed me. I don’t work outside the home, I’m a stay at home mom, I save us money. I felt led to start this blog last year and I have loved it. But recently, it’s like it’s everywhere in “blogland”, making money doing this, making money doing that, getting followers here, getting subscribers there. Yada yada yada. And I want to tell you I’m sorry. Momentarily I lost sight of my “why”. Why I do this blog. It’s so easy to lose sight of your perspective when the world is throwing everything at you. Then today this Scripture just keeps coming at me:
Colossians 3: 1Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is youra life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
So, let me tell you why I do this blog:
This is my mission field. I am here to encourage women by showing you what I have learned, what I am experiencing, what is going on in my life in order to reach people for Christ.
That’s it. That’s my why.
How that looks on my blog?
- Well, it may be through a diy project. No, I’m not an all-star diy-er. But I do like to make a mess, I like to piddle with things, and I like to create. If I could I would just buy some of the stuff, but where I’m at now, well, that’s just not in the budget. (Like all the burlap ruffles that I want on my Christmas tree. I could buy a 5 foot section pre-made for $20 or I could buy 100 yards of burlap ribbon and make my own for $27. Yes. I did say 100 yards. And yes, I do know I’m a go big or go home kind of gal.) Even if I weren’t on a budget, I want to stretch the money God has blessed with to go farther so we can bless others. That’s the whole gist of it anyway.
- It may be through a beauty or fashion post. All of us Moms would rather stay in black stretchy yoga pants and oversized tee-shirts with no makeup, most of the time. However, I want to look my best for my hubby and I don’t want my kids to be embarrassed by me (too much) by my bleach stained pants and messy hair. So I’m going to share clothing that is good for us Moms, beauty tips and hacks that will help us all. Just because we are Moms doesn’t mean we are a big hot mess all the time.
- It may be through what God has been showing me. These are my favorite posts. God is so cool and every chance I get I want to share what I’ve learned.
- It may be through a Friday Funny. God has blessed me with these kiddos and they continually make my life hilarious, fun, and exciting. I love to laugh, be silly, have fun, and make messes. Kids are good for all of these 🙂
So there you have it. I’m not here to shove products down your throat. I hate selling things (I’m really terrible at it, too). I’m not here to act like I have it all together. I don’t. Shocker I know. Please, pick your mouth up off the floor. The pictures what you see on here will be the best pics I have (and my bestie is my photographer so she is AWESOME!!) But, I will add in pictures in there to 1. Humble myself. and 2. Show you what I’m really like. I like to talk, and blogging is my talking to grown-ups time. If only we could sit down and have this conversation over coffee and cheesecake. And brownies, and truffles. I digress. Ya’ll are my friends, my people, the people who get me.
I hope you enjoy my blog, my why. my MesstoBlessed 🙂
