Today is the last day of March. For the month of March I had a goal to eat two out of three meals a day as whole foods. What I did: I changed my suppers to whole foods mostly-not 100% but mostly. I made modifications for the kids’ meals as well.
How I did: Well, I have lost 6 pounds!! As far as energy goes…well it’s not miraculous. I’m still tired. I guess that can be attributed to several contributing factors (I’m in my mid-30’s, 4 children who have to eat, be clothed, and refereed.)
A goal that one of my besties and I did lately which was rather absurd- I haven’t eaten sweets since last Sunday, almost two full weeks. I decided last Sunday that I was done eating sweets until April 1st. That is the day our oldest turns 10. Hold up, when did I get old enough to have a kid in the double digits?
I have done extremely well, there were two minor occasions where I did have doughnuts. I don’t count that because, well, hello, it’s technically a breakfast staple. And then yesterday we had an impromptu birthday party for my oldest at Mams’ house, and there was cake, and singing Happy Birthday, so that counts as his birthday celebration…What? Do not give me that look okay?
In order to deal with the fact that I now have a child in the double digits I have been making a plan.
A plan to drown myself in chocolate.
Yes, you may think I’m crazy, and my husband does not understand this in the least because 1. He has no idea what hormones do to a woman and 2. He is the salty in our relationship. I’m Sweet 🙂
To let you know just a fraction of how much I love sweets this conversation occurred with my 5 year old daughter:
At the dinner table I am placing a bowl filled to the top with an off-white creamy substance.
LC: OH YESSSSS!!! CAKE BATTER!!!!
Me: No, I’m sorry honey. It’s mashed potatoes.
I don’t know why I do this to myself, but I found myself browsing Pinterest looking at chocolate cupcake recipes (they’re my favorite). Here I am, 5 days away from eating sweets drooling at my computer. Seriously, my mouth is watering now as I am thinking about what I plan to make. But I have to wait until Saturday morning to actually make it. Because if I make them today and actually plan to have self-control, nuh-uh. Failure is imminent. I’m pretty sure you would find me hiding in a closet eating an entire mixing bowl full of icing. Don’t judge.
In order to let you in on my brain, well the chocolate dessert part of my brain (which is probably I’d say 50 %, the other 50% is coffee) I’m sharing with you my favorite Chocolate Desserts. (I say that I’m sharing this for you dear reader, but it’s actually to non-nonchalantly share this with my Mom, who is a faithful reader, and she is so pretty, and so kind, and such a good baker…and who will probably make me at least one of these).
