The Best of Organizing.
I’m on a mission to get our family organized. It’s still not perfect, but it has come a LONG WAY BABY!!
Yep. I’ve done the research ya’ll.
I’ve found useful organizing sites.
I’ve found some of the best printables.
Here are some blogs and sites AND podcasts that have helped me!! Be sure to check them out, because I know you will definitely find something to get you going and blessing your mess!
The Best of Organizing
- Sarah Titus
- Abby @ Just A Girl and Her Blog
- Traci @Beneath My Heart
- Dan and Vanessa Hays: Simple Life Together
To kick it off, Sarah Titus
is one awesome mom and Christian who is an inspiration to me.
She has it going on.
Organizing, self-employment and entrepreneur tips. I found her through blogging then instantly became a follower of hers. Every time I turn around on Pinterest I find myself pinning something else of her stuff. She’s that good.
Organizing is one of her forte’s. Her post on Organizing Essential’s: A Guide to Organizing Everything You Own is vital. For real, if you need to know how to organize it, what to do with it, an idea to store it: She has it on this page!! Plus, she’s frugal. And being a Stay-At-Home-Mom with one income in our house, frugal is essential.
Something noteworthy to take from her site is HOW TO KEEP IT ORGANIZED LONG TERM (here’s an example):
- Everything must have a home
- Put your bills up immediately
- If you haven’t used it in 6 months, get rid of it (unless it’s a seasonal item)
- Keep on top of your paperwork
- After you grocery shop, put everything away
- Don’t bring stuff into the house (or garage) you don’t need
- Put everything up wherever it makes the most sense
- Use tubs and baskets to organize
- Work as a family to keep your place organized
- Create a routine
- Have an entry way or organized space at your front door for keys, wallets, phones, etc.
- Use one piece of furniture for two uses (a good example is a mirror that opens up to store jewelry).
I haven’t mastered ALL of these yet, but I’m working on them. And you know what? IT’S WORKING!! Seriously, it is. You can walk in my living room now and not step on a Lego. Or sit down at the table and actually have a place to eat without clearing off an area. The command center, always a work in progress but every couple days (Or to be honest a couple times a DAY) I will walk through and move the shoes into the bins. But we are getting there!!
Her printable on a Cleaning Checklist…it has everything you need to get your house organized and clean.
Go check out her blog, you will love it! Also, follow her on Pinterest. You’ll be loving every single Pin!
has everything on organization. If you need to get organized, she has a printable for it and a how to get you there!
A mom of 2 and former teacher, and CREATIVE. She has her head on her shoulders and is really one of the most giving people. She cares.
Organizing printables -She rocks these out!
Her story, a former teacher turned stay-at-home-mom really resonated with me since, well, that’s me! I found her through blogging. Not only is she great at being organized, she is great in business. I bought her Building a Framework-a Guide to Starting a Blog and that has been my go-to on getting my blog started.
One really useful tool I used was her 2016 Intentional Life Planner. For 2017 she is offering a Budget Binder. It is free!!! It is very detailed and really helps you get your goals written down to see where you are going for each day, week, month, and the whole year.
is a Mom of 4 boys, yep boys. She’s a Kentuckian (Holllahhh) and is a DIY guru along with organizing! Her blog on her Giant Family Command Center is what got my tail in gear for my Command Center. Not only is she organized, she has every diy in the world to get you there.
Did I mention the woman has style.
Seriously. Major style.
Her furniture re-do’s are awesome.
Checkout her Bathroom Makeover. The walls alone…I’m in ♥!!!
I’ve been following her blog for a couple years now, and I absolutely love everything she puts out there. You’ll fall in love with her Country farm style too!!
Her blog is a little different than the others. She talks about what’s going on in real life for her family and how God is at work.
She is real. Her blog got started because of her mom, who has since passed away. You read her posts and it’s like you are having a conversation with her.
Her Pinterest, once again. Just follow her here. You’ll be glad you did!
Last but not least, Dan and Vanessa Hays at Simple Life Together really knocked my socks off. My hubs got me to listening to podcasts while I was working on our basement… (You know organizing) I found their podcast and instantly it changed my way of thinking. I starting going through everything, getting rid of things we don’t need. They introduced me to minimalism. I am not anywhere near being a minimalist, but it did help me to get perspective on all of our stuff. It really jump-started my journey on getting us organized and letting go of things that we don’t need. Check out their blog and listen to their podcast! They are truly awesome!
Side note: it is while listening to this podcast that I got the idea to start a blog 🙂
You want to get organized?
All this reading on organizing gets me in gear and lights a fire under my rear (hehehehehe, can you tell I have 2 boys who would be giggling at this very moment :P).
So, I have made a free Printable on jump starting YOUR house to get organized. This is by no means exhaustive (Please, give me 10 cents for that word thank you very much!), but it will get you started on the right path!!
You can print it here: Get Organized Checklist.
So, my journey for being organized is still on-going.
Perfection, not there.
BUT THE KITCHEN TABLE IS CLEAR PEOPLE!! And, my kids know what they are wearing to school tomorrow BECAUSE IT IS ORGANIZED in their closet no less!
And you know what? I’m going to be thankful for all this mess. Because if I had it all together, well, I probably wouldn’t have all these little ones in my house. One day when I go to sleep at night my house will be straight and in order, well hopefully it will, but until then, I’m just going to try and BLESS OUR HOME EVEN IN THE MIDST OF OUR MESS!
I hope these blogs and podcasts are helpful to you because man they sure have been to me! and Go Bless Your Mess!!
